Lesotho VAT Calculator Guide
This guide explains the mathematical VAT operations in TaxEase. It does not decide whether a supply is exempt, zero-rated or claimable.
Adding VAT to a net amount
VAT amount = net amount x VAT rate. Total including VAT = net amount + VAT amount.
Example: for a net amount of M10,000 at a selected 15% rate, VAT is M1,500 and the total is M11,500.
Removing VAT from a VAT-inclusive amount
Net amount = VAT-inclusive total / (1 + VAT rate). VAT amount = VAT-inclusive total - net amount.
The rate must match the applicable supply. TaxEase does not determine classification, exemptions or zero-rating.
Use the result carefully
Keep the invoice, supply classification and source documents with the calculation. Confirm current registration, rate and return requirements with RSL.
